Ernie Coffin

Ernie CoffinAfter what Dent did
to himself, I was next
in line to fill the
vacancy. But they gave
it to someone else.
Old Deegan knew, somehow,
that I had taken
a few work computers
home and sold them to
pay off my girl’s doctor
bills that insurance
wouldn’t cover. He called
me on the carpet,
and assured me that he
would have mercy on
me and my family,
if I just confessed.
So I did. But he turned
me over to the
police, and the next day,
every news show and
paper screamed the story
about my fraud and
embezzlement, and how
the noble bankers
were dedicated to
fighting corruption.
He needed a scapegoat.
I gave him what he
needed and lost it all.
