Elias Camden

Elias CamdenIt wasn’t much of
a house, but it was ours.
I never missed a
payment, was never late.
But they passed a law,
and Thom Ballard told me
he had the right to
evict me. The famous
O’Meara took on
my case for free, on some
principle. He fought
as hard as he could. But
the law was the law,
and I follow it. So
we accepted the
relocation money
and we rented an
apartment on the south
side of town. Ballard
sold the land. It was part
of the site where they
built the Galleria.
My Kate was going
to have a job there, but
it never opened.
They could have let us stay
in our house for all
the difference that it made.
